Shepherds Plant, Hungary

Once one of the largest industrial investments in the country, this power station supplied thermal energy to Hungary for half a century

The power plant contained 7 steam boilers and 6 turbines, generating a total of 120MW.

In the 70’s gas turbines were installed at the power plant, which operated at peak times, after the installation the capacity of the site increased to 164 MW.

After a decrease in demand for the power station and due to the tightening of environmental regulations, the site was closed in 2001 and some of the equipment and buildings were dismantled.

The site is now left open to the elements, and nature has started to reclaim it.
